Outlining Your Goal and Plan for Success

Intending to achieve success without a goals and plans? Follow these simple steps and you are on your way to success!

Setting Goals
Use the SMART acronym to help speed up the process of goal setting and for consistency in performance review too:

SpecificEnsure that your goal is clear and you end up where you want to be.
MeasurableInclude a way to measure the goal such as date, time or amount.
Attainable/AchievableMake sure that it’s possible to reach the goals you set.
RelevantKeep the goal relevant to your life or career focus.
Time-boundState a deadline to know when you can celebrate your achievements.

A goal that meets the SMART criteria for example; Search for FSBO/FRBO listings on the first Monday of every month and follow up with the owners by Friday that week. When new listings are published or they have been sold or rented out, check my database and amend accordingly.

The Action Plan
Develop an action plan with steps to reach your goals:

  • Who and how to communicate with the people involved
  • What are resources needed and where to get them
  • When will the plan kick start and for how long

Measuring Success
After implementing your action plan, track and ensure that you are achieving your goals and results. This helps you to stay motivated and focused. The positivity generated also propels you to act consistently towards your goals and ultimately, multiply your results. Define your own success now!
